Investing in Tomorrow's Logistics Workforce
Savannah Traffic Club (STC) Board meetings typically focus on the business of the dayβplanning events, discussing initiatives, and advancing the organization's mission. Recently, however, the Board took a different approach. Rather than gathering around a conference table, members stepped out into the community for a working visit to Savannah Technical College, hosted by board member Professor Bill Stankiewicz, better known throughout the industry as "The Supply Chain Guy."
The visit offered more than a tour of campus. It was an opportunity to better understand how technical education is preparing the next generation of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and supply chain professionalsβand how the Savannah Traffic Club can continue expanding its scholarship program to support those students.

As one of the Club's core initiatives, scholarship funding helps students pursuing careers in logistics and transportation gain the education and training needed to enter the workforce. While the Club has traditionally supported students attending colleges and universities, the Board is actively exploring ways to broaden those opportunities to include students pursuing technical education, certifications, and skilled trades that directly support the supply chain industry.
As our region's logistics industry continues to grow, so does the demand for qualified professionals. Employers throughout the supply chain face an ongoing need for individuals who possess both technical knowledge and practical skills. Programs like those offered at Savannah Technical College are helping prepare students to meet those workforce demands.
Hosted by Professor Bill Stankiewicz, who teaches courses in supply chain management, logistics, transportation, and warehousing, the tour gave board members an inside look at Savannah Tech's facilities, faculty, and educational programs. For many, it was their first visit to campus, providing valuable insight into the hands-on training students receive and the pathways available into the logistics profession.
The experience reinforced an important goal for the Savannah Traffic Club: investing in workforce development by supporting students wherever they choose to pursue their education. Whether through a traditional four-year degree or a technical education program, every scholarship awarded represents an investment in the future of our industry and the professionals who will keep our supply chains moving.
The Savannah Traffic Club extends its sincere appreciation to Professor Bill Stankiewicz and the faculty of Savannah Technical College for welcoming the Board and sharing their vision for preparing tomorrow's logistics workforce. Together, through education, partnership, and scholarship support, we are helping build the next generation of industry leaders.
