Middletown, NJ, June 9, 2026 — The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) will honor Alan McCorkle, President and CEO of Yusen Terminals LLC, with the 2026 Connie Award, and Susan “Sue” Coffey, Vice President of Marketing and Key Accounts at The Pacific Companies, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards will be presented on September 16, 2026, at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown.
The Connie Award is one of the maritime and logistics industry’s highest honors, recognizing leaders whose innovation, entrepreneurial vision, and influential leadership have advanced the growth and evolution of containerization and intermodal transportation. The award celebrates individuals whose contributions have helped shape and strengthen the global supply chain and transportation industry.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals or organizations that have demonstrated longstanding leadership, service, and commitment to advancing the maritime and logistics industry and supporting CII’s mission. The award recognizes meaningful contributions that have made a significant and lasting difference within the industry.

Alan McCorkle, President and CEO of Yusen Terminals, is being recognized for his leadership, exceptional operational expertise and lasting contributions to containerization and intermodal transportation throughout his distinguished career. Over more than three decades in the maritime and terminal industry, McCorkle has played a pivotal role in shaping port and terminal operations, overseeing major infrastructure development projects, and driving operational excellence across global logistics networks.
His influence on the industry, including the development and launch of the Pier 400 terminal in Los Angeles and senior roles with Yusen Terminals and A.P. Moller-Maersk, reflects the innovation, entrepreneurial vision, and industry impact recognized by the prestigious Connie Award.
Sue Coffey: A Lifetime of Strategic Leadership and Supply Chain Advocacy
With more than 40 years of leadership in transportation and maritime logistics, Sue Coffey, Vice President of Marketing and Key Accounts at The Pacific Companies, is being recognized with the CII Lifetime Achievement Award for her lasting contributions to global trade, business development, and industry collaboration.
Throughout her distinguished career spanning organizations including Sea-Land, CSX, Eagle Global Logistics, the Port of Tacoma/The Northwest Seaport Alliance and The Pacific Companies, Coffey has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to advancing the maritime and intermodal industries. Her longstanding involvement and leadership within CII further reflect her dedication to strengthening industry relationships and supporting the continued growth of the global supply chain.
Advancing Industry Education
CII was founded in 1960 and has been presenting the Connie Award since 1972. It has become one of the most coveted honors in the field of containerization and its ancillary industries.
Among the more than 70 Connie Award recipients are containerization founder Malcom McLean, The Honorable Helen Delich Bentley, Allen Clifford, The Honorable Mario Cordero, Ed DeNike, Joseph Gregorio, Jon Hemingway, Vincent Marino, Robert Sappio, Gene Seroka, and Peter Tirschwell.
At the event, CII will carry out its industry education mission by presenting scholarships to students studying logistics, as well as the institutions that are educating our future leaders. Under its auspices, CII has awarded more than $1 million toward scholarships since 1972.
