Transportation CSR (Customer Service Representative)


Transportation CSR's primary role and responsibility is to negotiate pricing and coordinate delivery of shipments that our Transportation CSR's and Business Development Team secure from current and new customers across North America. Transportation CSR's also research new customers and primarily carriers that can be used for shipments while creating relationships to have a Nationwide Network of carriers to work with and depend on.

This is a fast paced and interactive oriented role. Working closely with the Business Development Team, Customers, Drivers, Dispatchers, Warehouse, and Freight companies, having excellent verbal and written communication, multitasking and using software programs to price freight and track loads is a must. 

The ideal Transportation CSR will be: goal oriented, have excellent verbal communication skills, be well organized and good at building relationships, negotiations, and multitasking while working with a team for the end result!

Detailed Description 

·      Secures all loads within their designated mode of transportation.

·      Handles rate negotiation on a daily basis with customers and carriers.

·      Networks with Business Development Team on matching capacity with available loads.

·      Monitors daily progress of our Third Party Carriers and Assets. Obtains timely updates from the carriers to ensure our loads are moved in a professional and expedient manner.

·      Monitors and updates insurance requirements for Third Party Carriers.

·      Obtains billing information from third party capacity to ensure proper billing of our customers.

·      Sources new carriers to add to our carrier base. Ensures the carrier have proper operating authority and insurance as well as understands the carriers freight needs.

·      Assists in coverage of overflow from all Employees that are under Schilli Distribution Services & Schilli Transportation Services umbrella.


JOB REQUIREMENTS – Transportation CSR (Customer Service Representative)

Qualified candidates should possess: 

·      Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

·      Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload.

·      Strong negotiation skills required.

·      Possess good problem analysis skills and sound financial judgment.

·      Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

·      Ability to maintain motivation and energy for cold calling and prospecting customers & carriers.

·      Strong work ethic, fast learner with attention to detail and accuracy.

·      Self-starter and motivated to achieve the end result.

·      Great phone presence and effective interpersonal communication skills.

·      Comfortable with computer and multiple applications.
