Materials Manager

  • Forecasted, ordered, and allocated $12M annually in production material inventory for 3 facilities across the country to efficiently satisfy the needs of all departments
  • Developed and implemented new ordering processes by gaining the cooperation of facility managers which resulted in better time management and reduced freight costs by combining orders.
  • Problem solved to decrease INV on hand by working with suppliers to provide product to reflect a JIT system
    • Annual cost savings estimated at over 1% of revenue
  • Sourced and qualified new suppliers to help increase quality and reduce costs

·        Regularly engaged with over 100 vendors with a focus on achieving a win-win business relationship

  • Responsible for leading a team in meeting or exceeding a $2.5 million budget in annual hourly labor
  • Worked with scheduling department to forecast weekly labor needs which often achieved a balance between employee and business demands
  • Directed supervisors and facility managers to deploy labor as needed to increase cost savings
  • Developed a “box method” to help control labor costs

    • Forecasted and planned over 2,000 parts while keeping INV at an acceptable level

    • Designed and implemented daily reporting on cycle times, secondary operations, and scrap tracking within work cells
  • Responsible for up to 80 employees
  • Directly managed day-to-day operations of reel department with 20+ employees on three shifts
  • Scheduled six work cells with short lead times by coordinating with line leaders on daily and weekly production tasks
  • Implemented CNC Router coding system with a scheduling system
