The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform duties requiring limited knowledge of warehouse systems and procedures. The primary purpose of the warehouse associate is to assist in warehouse operations such as receiving, shipping and storing cargo. Duties may be assigned in accordance with the warehouse procedures of individual establishments and may include a combination of loading, unloading and stocking . Daily tasks and assignments are assigned by a manager /supervisor; however, when actually implementing tasks and assignments, work is performed without immediate supervision. Performance is evaluated on attendance, productivity, attitude, safety and knowledge.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Load and unload shipments.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including a forklift.
  • May sweep, dust or mop the warehouse area.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Span of control 6-15 warehouse employees

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Knowledge of trucking, imports, exports, and warehouse 3Pl inventory system

Ability to:

  • Ability to commutate information to managers, supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. The ability to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds.
  • Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
  •  Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking warehouse environment.
