STC President's Message from David
19 December 2010

Savannah Traffic Club

Message from the president                                                                                             December 2010

Well, here we are, preparing to close out the season of what we accomplished in 2010, while at the same time look forward into new opportunities for growth in the New Year. As the Traffic Club reflects back on 2010, we are reminded that although we did have some wonderful successes as a club, 2011 will prove to be the year that exceeds our greatest expectations.

Just a few of the 2010 STC Highlights:

  • Georgia Southern University Scholarship Dinner – Awarded $10,000 in Scholarships in March
  • Annual Golf Tournament fund raiser held at Crosswinds Golf Club raised $10,000 in April
  • Clifford Pyron, Georgia Ports Authority was guest speaker at “Lunch & Learn” in June
  • CSA 2010 rules, safety and compliance was priority one at “Lunch & Learn” in July
  • The ever changing Chassis Pool in Savannah was well attended at “Lunch & Learn” in October
  • STC preparing dinner and serving the community at Ronald McDonald House also in October
  • STC celebrated with Southeastern Freight, CLG, and JIT as new ground was broke for expansion
  • Ongoing good news from the Georgia Ports Authority and the Army Corps of Engineers in regards to the SHEP program has all of us registering comments on how that will affect our businesses
  • STC involvement with Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics & Georgia Work Ready

With all that behind us, what’s planned for 2011?

·       “Lunch & Learn” schedule will continue quarterly featuring topics of current interest

·       Savannah Chassis Expo 2011 will be held February 17th and will bring us up to date with the most current news and information on what’s happening with the world of the chassis.  STC will host an expanded “Lunch & Learn” format that will include a chassis trade show on site for  personalized services offered by companies servicing the chassis industry

·       Transportation Clubs International conference will be held in Savannah September 15th -18th 2011

·       STC will continue our commitment of service to our industry and the scholarship program at GSU.

A wise coach once said that, success on the field is directly related to: the talent of his players and their willingness to work together as a team. Although the STC schedule has been, and remains to be busy with activity, I believe with all my heart that the board of directors and membership of the Savannah Traffic Club is exactly that kind of team.  As the club president,  I am honored to be surrounded and supported by such an incredible group of team players. With their continued support, I’m confident 2011 will be the year that exceeds our wildest expectations.

The gifts are bought and the monthly STC newsletters are done for 2010. On behalf of the Savannah Traffic Club and my family, Teresa, Kaitlyn, Logan and Brian, here’s hoping that you have a very Merry Christmas and a super safe New Year.  I know it sounds a bit corny but, that about wraps it up.

Warmest Regards,

David “Fish” Mihuta
